Yuri’s Night 2022

on 07 April 2022

“Circling the Earth in my orbital spaceship I marvelled at the beauty of our planet. People of the world, let us safeguard and enhance this beauty — not destroy it!”. Those were the words of Yuri Gagarin, the first human that flew into space on 12 April 1961.

20 years later, on 12 April 1981 the first space shuttle was launched. „Yuri’s Night” is a global campaign to mark these events every year — a celebration of human presence into space, in the past, present and future.

Yuri’s Night’s mission is to bring the world together, and this is why this year’s events around the globe focus on the importance of peace on Earth and finding ways to spread peace in our community.

The first World Space Party took place on 12 April 2001. From 2001 until 2010, Yuri’s Night was a project of the Space Generation Advisory Council and run under the non-profit Space Generation Foundation in the United States. As of 2010, Yuri’s Night is an independent non-profit organisation in the United States.

More details about the events during the night can be found at this link.
