Grants To Participate At The International Astronautical Congress For Young Space Enthusiasts

on 13 December 2019

The International Astronautical Federation has announced the call for the Emerging Space Leaders Grant Programme (ESL Grants), that enable 25 students and young professionals between age of 21 and 35 to participate in the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), as well as activities held the week prior to the Congress. The deadline to apply is 10 February 2020.

Candidates may apply regardless of their home country or current residence. While all applications will be considered, the IAF through this programme seeks to encourage applications from candidates in nations with emerging space capabilities and interests who would otherwise not be able to attend an IAC. Successful applicants will be expected to present at least one paper (orally or in interactive/poster format), and/or to participate as panellist in the Next Generation Plenary.

The selection is made based on the following criteria:

● Country of citizenship
● English Language Proficiency
● Abstract for Technical Session and Participation in the Next Generation Plenary
● Essay – Citizen of the Space Community
● Prior attendance at the International Astronautical Congress

The winners of last year include Romanian Alexandra Jercaianu, a Project Manager at Eurisy – a Paris based association of space agencies working to bridge space and society by raising awareness on the benefits of satellite-based services.

The International Astronautical Congress has been held every year since 1950. Global, multidisciplinary, and covering all space sectors and topics, IAC offers everyone the latest space information and above all new contacts and potential partnerships.
