Launch of GOLIAT nanosatellite

on 13 February 2012

GOLIAT is the first Romanian nanosatellite and it was developed by a research consortium led by the Romanian Space Agency. The launch of the satellite will take place in the inaugural flight of the European Space Agency's Vega rocket, on February 13, 2012 between 10:00 - 12:00 GMT.


The GOLIAT satellite is developed in accordance with international CubeSat standard, and it aims to achieve high-resolution images, measurements of the radiation dose and micrometeoroids flow and the transfer of data to ground stations for analysis and scientific dissemination. One of the secondary objectives is the validation in space of the sub-systems developed for re-use and further development in future missions.
