ECS Workshop

on 12 September 2001

The second agreement signed between Romania and the European Space Agency (ESA) in October 1999 opened prospects for initiating industrial cooperation between Romania and the European body.

In this context, ASR together with ESA organized several events with international participation, such as "ESA - Romanian Space Industry Workshop", which enjoyed broad participation from research organizations, industry and government institutions concerned. The results of these events placed Romania on a prominent place in the process of accession to the European Space Agency, together with the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary. Joining ESA results in the opening of a high-tech export market in the European Community, with an annual value of 15-25 million Euros.

In order to start the accession program, ESA holda at its headquarters in Paris on 12 and 13 September 2001 a workshop involving relevant organizations of the four candidates. Documents related to the meeting program and the ECS programme for gradual accession to ESA are available on the website of ASR or copies can be obtained from the headquarters of the Agency .

Please assign a number of representatives from your organization to participate in this important event, noting that each institution will cover the travel expenses. There is no participation fee.

Please send the list of participants proposed urgently, to the attention of Mr. dr. Marius-Ioan Piso, executive director of ASR and Romania's representative in the relationship with the European Space Agency (tel. 6504222, 6504619, fax 3128804, e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots.
