Open call for students: “CubeSats Hands-on Training Week”

on 04 December 2017

The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) invites Romanian university students to apply for “CubeSats Hands-on Training Week” – a pilot ESA Academy training session that can help them improve their skills in spacecraft hardware and software. The training will be held between 26 February and 2 March 2018 at the Training and Learning Centre in ESEC, Belgium. The deadline for applications is 8 January 2018.

Participants at the Training Week will have the opportunity to perform experiments on Educational Satellites (ESAT) and learn how subsystems interact with each other. They will also discover how to conduct Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV), and how to handle tests using real hardware. The aim of the Training Week is to help students that have new ideas for educational CubeSat missions, or are working on CubeSat projects at a conceptual or preliminary stage. The practical experience will be complemented by lectures held by ESA experts on the various fields of CubeSat subsystems and testing – from Space Systems Engineering to Satellite Testing.

In order to be eligible, applicants need to be aged 18 – 32, to be a citizen of an ESA Member or Associate State, to be enrolled as a full-time Bachelor, Master, or PhD student in a university (not graduating before the Training Week), and to be studying an engineering subject.

For each selected student, ESA will cover the cost of accommodation and meals as well as up to 200 euro for travelling to Redu, Belgium.

More details about the topics that will be covered during the Training Week and about how to apply can be accessed here.
