Acoustic filters are extensively used in low frequency systems and at intermediate frequency as part of frequency converters. Acoustic filters provide a high degree of miniaturisation together with sharp transitions between pass and stop band. Bandwidth and frequency are fixed by design and, whenever any of the parameters is required to be tuned, a bank of filters is selected to provide a solution. This has strong impact in terms of compactness and reliability of the overall system since multiple switches have to be included to select each of the different bandwidth states.In the last years initial studies have been done investigating the possibility to tune acoustic filters and still benefit for the high degree of miniaturisation. Architectures based on, for instance, transversal topologies, could provide a certain degree of tuneability both in bandwidth and central frequency. The activity aims to study topologies to provide tuneability capabilities. The tuneability both in bandwidth and central frequency shall be demonstrated in a reduced breadboard.This activity encompasses the following tasks:- State of the art survey about filter topologies and acoustic technology.- Survey of applications where acoustic tuneable filters may be required.- Development of resonator/filter models and synthesis tool.- Multi-physic simulation and verification through reduced breadboard.- Design, manufacturing and test of tuneable filter.-Lessons learned and way forward.Procurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl.
