Within the framework of its hands-on Education Programmes, the European Space Agency has undertaken the development of the EuropeanStudent Earth Orbiter, ESEO. The satellite is developed by European university student teams for educational purpose. The programmeaims at providing European students with hands-on experience in order to contribute to the preparation of a well-qualified space engineering workforce for the future.The ESEO with a mass of approximately 54 kg and main body dimensions of approx. 66x33x33 cm, will be launched to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), where it will measure radiation levels, test a number of technologies for future educationalsatellite activities and take pictures of the Earth and other celestial bodies.ESEO is at the present time in its MAIT (manufacturing, assembly integration, and testing) phase, FM readiness for acceptance is planned in first half 2017, and the Education Office intends to procure the Launch Services.
