The purpose of this procurement is to provide a movie of about 10 minutes length to explain the structure of the space debris environment and the problems associated with it.l The movie is meant for a technically trained audience and also used as part of presentations. A good degree of technical realism is required. This concerns the motion and the distribution of objects, as well as shape and appearance of “named” space objects. For certain sequences it will be required to perform simulations based on input data describing the distribution of objects in space. All input data for the space objects to be simulated will be provided by ESOC. It is necessary, that some margin is reserved in order to encompass a limited number of changes and adaptations. This movie will serve severalpurposes: – First, it will be the main act during the opening ceremony of the 7th European Space Debris conference in April 2017 – Also, the movie will be available online (as for the previous conference movies) for the interested public (past movies had several thousand clicks) – The movie shall serve as input material to the press (and past movies have appeared at prominent slots in TV news and documentaries) – Finally it has been found that animation is the most suitable means to explain technical principles and to give a clear picture on the situation in space. The animations produced in the past have been very helpful in this regard. It is therefore planned to generate the movie and animations therein in a way they can be used in technical presentations A second aspect requested herein concerns the reprocessing of older movies on VHS and other depreciated media. Here, the goal is to translate them into formats that can be shared over the internet (mp4)
