The ESA Tracking Stations Network (ESTRACK) supports ESA own spacecrafts during both critical and routine mission phases. It provides space-ground radio frequency communication link for data acquisition, command and tracking services. In addition, ESTRACK supports missions from partner agencies (e.g. NASA, JAXA, Roscosmos, and others) as well as commercial operators. ESTRACK features a network of three Deep Space antennas sited in New Norcia (Western Australia), Cebreros (Spain) and Malargüe (Argentina). Their strategic locations uniformly distributed in the world provide around-the-clock coverage to space missions. In addition, the combination of southern and northern hemispheres sites represents an optimum configuration allowing interferometric measurements of spacecraft positions in the plane of the sky. These measurements enable very precise orbit determination and control during critical mission phases (e.g. Mars orbit insertions, asteroids fly-bys) as well as during routine operations, as required.ESA intends to procure and installa second Deep Space antenna in New Norcia. The antenna will be a Beam Wave Guide Cassegrain antenna and as baseline will have the following main capabilities allowing to serve current and upcoming missions: – X-Band uplink (up to 20 kW);- X-Band and K-Band (25.5 27 GHz) down-link. The performances of the new deep space antenna will be in line with the current ESTRACK Deep Space Network. This procurement will include the complete front-end (interface at IF for both up- and down-link). Antenna foundations and tower are part of this procurement. Kick-off of the activity is planned in Q4 2020, with operational readiness scheduled by mid of 2024.
