In this activity a recurring radiation monitoring instrument flight model will be procured for a future hosted payload mission in the frame of ESA’s Distributed Space Weather Sensor System (D3S). This procurement will ensure that an instrument will be availablein short-term, which is required as emerging flight opportunities usually need timely confirmation and require comparebly short delivery times of the instruments. Potential flight opportunities to be considered within this activity are to complement the ongoing and planned D3S hosted payload missions and would therefore focus on Low Earth Orbit or Medium Earth Orbit. Monitoring the radiation environment in these orbits provides important information on incoming solar energetic particles as well as the status of the radiation belts.Synergies with the already existing and planned data processing systems in the Space Weather Data Centre will be preferred to minimise the data processing implementation costs.
