Priority 2Objective: Analyse the performance limitations for existing quantum key distribution protocols and their dependenceon hardware and system-level performances.Targeted Improvements:Model for quantum key distribution protocol performance prediction and a development roadmap for the critical enabling technologies. This activity shall identify the performance limitations of existing quantum key distribution protocols (including different quantum channels, wavelengths, entangled versus single photons, errorcorrection, etc.). A model shall be elaborated that allows the key performance parameters of a quantum key distribution link to be calculated taking into account the protocol parameters and the technical implementation (e.g. laser link properties). The technical readiness level of the different hardware components required for the protocol implementation shall be assessed and the required technology developments shall be proposed.() Invitations to tender for activities designated Priority 2 will only be initiated on the explicit request of at least one delegation.
