The SAVOIR Advisory Group working group on AOCS interfaces (SAVOIR-SAIF)recognised SpW as an important interface standard, but raised a number of questions with respect to the system aspects of basing an AOCS on it (e.g. FDIR, redundancy etc). This activity will answer these by the design of an AOCS architecture and test of this via a hardware test bench based entirely on SpW. This shall include units representing CDMU (Command and Data Handling Management Unit) functions and selected, representative AOCS units with adapted SpW interfaces, data processing and selected FDIR functions. The activity shall include: – Architectural redesign work (including FDIR and s/w) – Avionics test bench assembly integration and testing using a CDMU (Command and Data Handling Management Unit) BB -Update of representative AOCS unit BB, likely a new generation Star Tracker Optical Head, to support the SpW architecture – Test and reporting.
