The so called Copernicus Space Component (CSC) Expansion programme includes new missions that have been identified by the European Commission (EC) as priorities for implementation in the coming years by providing additional capabilities in support of current emerging user needs. As part of the preparatory activities for the evolution of Copernicus, feasibility studies are being undertaken for several potential expansion missions. The Anthropogenic CO2 Monitoring Mission is one of the candidate mission carrying an optical payload for which the Short Wave Infra-Red (SWIR) detectors performance is critical for meeting the mission objectives and is of high interest also for other future capabilities. The objectives of the activity are to design, manufacture and test a SWIR detector array optimised for meeting the mission needs of future CO2 monitoring mission. The Contractor shall demonstrate the performance in the required environment with fully representative prototypes at TRL 5. Subject to good quality proposals, it is the intention to place one contract for this activity. This pre-development of SWIR Detector for the Anthropogenic CO2 Monitoring Mission will be funded by the fifth slice (EOEP-5) of the Earth Observation Envelope Programme, which is an optional programme of the Agency. Therefore the procurement will be open to all economic operators belonging to the ESA Member and Associated States and Canada, participating in said EOEP-5 Programme; to date: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom and Canada.
