The so called Copernicus Space Component (CSC) Expansion programme includes new missions that have been identified by the European Commission (EC) as priorities for implementation in the coming years by providing additional capabilities in support of currentemerging user needs. As part of the preparatory activities for the evolution of Copernicus, feasibility studies are being undertaken for several potential expansion missions. The HyperSpectral Imaging Mission is one of the candidate mission carrying an optical payload, for which the HyperSpectral Detector performance is critical for meeting the mission objectives and of high interestalso for other future capabilities. The objective of the activity are to design, manufacture and test a detector array optimisedfor meeting the needs of the HyperSpectral imaging mission. The Contractor shall demonstrate the performance in the required environment with fully representative prototypes at TRL 5. Subject to good quality proposals, it is the intention to place one contract for this activity. This pre-development of a HyperSpectral Detector for the HyperSpectral Imaging Mission will be funded by thefifth slice (EOEP-5) of the Earth Observation Envelope Programme, which is an optional programme of the Agency. Therefore theprocurement will be open to all economic operators belonging to the ESA Member and Associated States and Canada, participating in said EOEP-5 Programme; to date: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom and Canada.
