The objective of this study is the definition of the POLARIS Arctic and Nordic Imager system concept and the associated instrument at preliminary definition level, to assess its feasibility, derive designs and development baselines, and define its interface requirements. The Arctic and Nordic Imager concept is that of a small constellation of hosted multispectral optical payloads, to be deployed in a Highly Elliptical Orbit. This aims to provide coverage of Nordic and Arctic Regions for nowcasting, numerical weather prediction, and atmosphere monitoring applications, similar to that obtained from a Geosynchronous orbit.
