Novel approaches for processing and analysing the continuously growing EO record are urgently needed. Cloud-based, distributed and scalable Platforms collocated with EO data holdings can be part of the required solution. Such Platforms can enable users to efficiently processes large EO data volumes and derive valuable information through advanced analytical concepts and tools. The objective of this ITT is to stimulate the development of a European, cloud-based processing and analytical capability in form of an operational service that provides high-level functionality to the full variety of different user groups (science, industry and public institutions). Fundamental aspects include seamless spatial-temporal data access, on-the-fly processing capabilities, interactive collaborative development environments, open-source, transparent and documented core functionalities. The functionality should make it easy tobring together EO data with a variety of non EO data sources. This ITT aims at the development of an operational service, accessible though different interfaces and environments, with an API based primary interface. The service should be compatible with different cloud technologies (multiple deployments on DIAS other clouds) and the core API functionalities will be optimised to services distributed compute architecture. The service capabilities shall scale well over various data volumes and the API elements will serve as building blocks to develop more complex EO applications. Crucial platform elements include co-creation of applications or products but also a remuneration mechanism to reward the use of community created capabilities and a billing mechanism to ascertain the costs involved for large processing operations. The overall result will be a highly versatile and powerful processing and analytic capability that serves the European EO community and strongly fosters innovation through innovative exploitation of the rapidly increasing EO data record
