The objective of this activity is to develop, manufacture and test a feed chain assembly for Very High Throughput Satellite (VHTS) applicationsincluding telecommunication and tracking channels, for combined Q, V-band feeder and Ka-band user links.Targeted Improvements: Elimination of a dedicated Q, V-band feeder link antenna; Reduction of the number of feeds of about 10%.Description:Upcoming Very-High-Throughput Satellite (VHTS) Systems will make use of Ka-band for the user beams and higher frequency bands for the gatewaylinks, i.e. Q, V bands. The simplest way to generate the required Ka-band user beam lattice is by means of a setof reflector antennas that make use offocal arrays of feeds. The Q, V-band gateway beams are often located somewhere inside of theKa-band user service area. Today combined feed chainsable to operate both in Ka band (for the user link) and in Q, V band (to serve the gateway) do not exist and a separate Q, V-band feeder link antenna isneeded.Hence, in order to eliminate the needed of a dedicated Q, V-band feeder link antenna this activity will design, manufacture and test an EngineeringModel of a combined Q-, V-band feeder and Ka-band user link feed chain supporting simultaneous transmit and receive operation.
