Assess the performance of new polishing techniques in terms of achievable polishing speed, wavefront and scatter performance.Overthe past years a number of new polishing techniques have been established such as fluid jet polishing and magneto-rheological finishing whereas the common established process for the manufacturing of space optics consists of computer-controlled polishing and ion-beam figuring. This activity aims to assess and compare the performance that can be achieved with recently established polishing processes. Breadboard samples shall be polished. Their performance shall be assessed in terms of figuring accuracy, scatter performance and manufacturing schedule.Procurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl. SMEs). For additionalinformation please go to EMITS news “Industrial Policy measures for non-primes, SMEs and RD entities in ESA programmes”.
