The MOOC-Cryo project will develop online material for self-directed studies on the types of satellite technology that give us critical knowledge of the processes and dynamics of the Earth’s cryosphere and on how the data are interpreted.When defining the content, particular interest should be given to analysing data from new instruments onboard the European Copernicus Satellites-1 and -3 (SLSTR, OLCI, SRAL), as well as ESAs Earth Explorer missions Cryosat-2 and SMOS, and possibly previous sensors onboard Envisat and CCI related activities, as well as Third Party missions. Thematic topics should include, but are not limited to, retrievals of sea ice concentration and thickness, glacier flow, and snow.
