Update Reason: Tender issue
The continuous development of the open source tool ESPSS, European Space Propulsions System Simulation, enabling propulsion system design and simulation, laid out the basis for predicting the flow behaviour in propulsion systems mainly for nominal operational conditionsTo enable prediction within a given accuracy of the potential occurrence of failures, mishaps or excursions beyond the operational box, the present framework aims to evaluate the potential added value and to address critical issues with the following objectives: to perform a dedicated validation exercise based upon available experimental databases or by setting up dedicated ones covering the above listed points. to refine various propulsion components assuring that the appropriate models and correlations are derivedand implemented to support the first objective. to further embed the tool into any existing design workflow interacting strongly with existing CAD-tools through ESA supported standards and dedicated high-fidelity codes (e.g. CFD for detailed fluid dynamics simulations). These objectives cover numerical, experimental as well as experimental activities, the latter in particular to provide the necessary databases for verification and validation. Any new development will be integrated and made available in the next ESPSS releases.
