SAVOIR (http:savoir.estec.esa.int) has produced a set of generic specification under the form of documents, based on some physical architecture of equipment that was state of the art at that time. The new functional model based approach recommended by the Arcadiamethod and implemented by the Capella tool, is more based on functional chains and models. It is expected that modelling the SAVOIRavionics architecture and generic specification using the MBSE techniques, in particular Arcadia method and Capella tool, will allow to have an innovative standpoint on the SAVOIR standardisation. In particular, it will give to the avionics community some genericor reference models that they could use to bootstrap the use of MBSE for their avionics, this will help introducing MBSE in avionics. In addition, the technology pushes in the avionics discipline (Miniaturisation Integration, Modularity Scalability) call for new physical implementations that can be as well modelled and assessed against the functional architecture. This activity proposes to model functional and physical architecture, assess the avionics trade-off potential of the approach, and update the SAVOIR documentation accordingly.
