ESA Open Invitation to Tender: 1-11136
Open Date: 27/01/2022 10:28 CEST
Closing Date: 10/03/2022 13:00 CEST

Knowledge of the long-term behaviour of the Martian atmosphere, winds, dust properties and transport and the origin of dust storms are key knowledge gaps that should be addressed both for the preparation of human missions to Mars and for the advancement of scientific atmospheric models. These knowledge gaps can only be met by a network of both orbital and landed assets and as such, a Mars Weather Network Mission Pre-Phase A Study is proposed as a follow on to ESA internal preparation work. The scope of this study is for the assessment of the Mars Weather Network Mission technical and programmatic requirements and mission architecture development to the extent required at Pre-Phase A level. The procurement will be open competition to all industrial entities, ensuring an open competitive approach preparing further steps. Parallel contracts are foreseen in case of competitive complementary proposals. Furthermore, the participation of SME’s will be encouraged.
