A number of Earth Observation missions with stringent constraint on mass and power are expected in the coming years. Such missions will be based on small satellites class and will embark payloads producing data at a rate lower than the instruments on larger satellites. In order to better serve this class of mission, a payload data transmitter specialised for mid-range data rate, u.e. up to few hundreds Mb/s, is required, in order to allow the missions to achieve their scientific targets in a reliable, efficient and economic way. An IP core implementing the state-of-the-art standard for payload data telemetry transmissions will be the main enabler of such a strategy. The scope of this activity is the design, development and validation of such an IP core, including synthesis for relevant target platforms. An experimental bread-board making use of the IP core will be developed in the course of the activity, allowing the Agency to test it in representative environment by connecting it to commercial receiver(s).
