Over the last few years schemes based on minimal kinetic models for the Boltzmann equation are becoming increasingly popular as a reliable alternative over conventional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques. Due to the flexibility afforded by its close connection to the kinetic theory recent research has led to major improvements, including consistent models for aerothermodynamics andhighly compressible flow in low gravity operating conditions.Lattice Boltzmann solver avoids the traditionally time consuming meshing process by means of a particle-based discretization approach to the Boltzmann equation. The solver features a unique collision operator implemented in central-moment space that increases the order of the method (4th order for spatial and 2nd for temporal scales), the stability in the vanishing viscosity limit and the Galilean invariance. The code does not require stabilization and is uniquely suited for compressible flow. Specifically, the technology is very well suited to handle detailed geometries and accurate transient aerodynamics, even in the presence ofmoving parts.Procurement Policy: C(3) = Activity restricted to SMEs RD Entities.
