This EXPRO+ procurement is part of the NAVISP Programme, under Elelment 1, Work Plan 2017.The objective of this activity is to study the suitability of the current generation of SBAS for use in an evolution of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS)using GNSS for virtual balise detection. This activity focuses on the current generation of GPS L1-only SBAS, addressing its suitability for railway in the time frame of 2020. It should account for: -Analysis of the current preliminary status of the ERTMS Virtual Balise concept by reviewing inputs from other activities such as the Next Generation Train Control (NGTC) document; -Suitability analysis of SBAS for its use in ERTMS; and -Analysis of the suitability of SBAS for cross-acceptance by railway safety authorities. The analysis shall be performed by an accredited independent safety assessor.
