In the frame of the international study phase, CSA has established a design concept and system requirements documentation for the HERACLES sample container (mass 22 kg including 15 kg of samples, cylindrical, robotic interfaces to robotic arms, rover, ascent element, and Gateway). The task of the current activity is to advance the design concept, system requirements, operational concept, and system design description of the sample container. Particular attention shall be paid to the interior design given the understandingof the sampling process and the variety of landing sites.
