The Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Innovation has identified the creation of an ESA BIC in Lithuania as a key element in the development plan of the Lithuanian Space Industry. Lithuanian entities have already been active through cooperation with ESA for several years, and the potential in the Country to promote and foster the development of start-ups and spin-offs is very good. ESA would therefore like to set up an ESA BIC, together with the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Innovation and various local actors. The main objective of the activity is to create and strengthen the community of successful space related start-ups in Lithuania by supporting 25 incubatees over the period of 5 years under the ESA BIC scheme.Related objectives are: Create and grow clusters of space related companies at the locations of the participating incubators and in their vicinities, Contribute to the national innovation and space strategies, Create jobs and economic growth, Encourage further uptake of space based services, and Support transfer of technologies from/to the space sector.
