Update Reason: Loaded a new Clarification(English version)
The advent of 5G mobile networks will increase the number of User Equipment (UE) (including more and more machine-type-communication equipment requiring authenticated position or time), and will bring new capabilities (higher data rate, lower latency, versatile network, improved positioning).Hybridization and network assistance have demonstrated their value in improving GNSS in harsh environments and in reducing receivers complexity for a given level of performance. Similar benefits could be envisaged for supporting authenticated positioning-navigation-timing (PNT) and for supporting the uptake of the related Galileo differentiators. This activity will study and assess novel solutions for UE-based and/or UE-assisted authenticated PNT, combining existing GNSS (in particular Galileos authentication differentiators), 5G capabilities and advances in motion sensors and UE technologies. The resulting solutions will be benchmarked in a flexible framework to demonstrate capabilities tailored to multiple use cases and connectivity assumptions. The activity shall consider the use of the following technologies:- Hybridization and diversity methods optimized and tailored for authentication, leveraging on next generation of clocks, antennas and motion sensors- New processing techniques enhanced by high throughput and low latency (e.g. Remote signal processing, cloud-based processing, machine learning used for cross-verification of the Position-Velocity-Time solutions and identification of interference/spoofings source)- Use of network assistance to support trusted initialization and waypoints, which are crucial milestones to support the detection of fake position- Combination of next generation of smartcards and network connectivity, enabling new processing modes and management schemes of security features to enhance near real-time services. In addition, to prevent some of the above techniques yield a risk for the users privacy, the combination of the above technologies with privacy-preserving solutions will be envisioned. This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Consolidation of the targeted use cases and collection of the relevant state-of-the-art and emerging technologies- Identification, design and development of the innovative techniques (multiple)- Implementation of the test set-ups and test campaigns- Performance assessment and benchmark of the different solutions- Roadmap for developments of system capabilities fostering resilient PNTProcurementPolicy: C(2) = A relevant participation (in terms of quality and quantity) of non-primes (incl. SMEs) is required. For additional information please go to EMITS news “Industrial Policy measures for non-primes, SMEs and RD entities in ESA programmes”.
