This is the TDE Work Plan 2021-2022.The goal of the Technology Development Element (TDE) as part of ESAs Basic Activities, is to prepare for future ESA Programmes and the challenges they address.Guidance towards this goal is provided by the ESA Technology Strategy, which was published in 2018 and encompasses all ESA activities. The technology and engineering targets, defined in ESAs technology strategy, are both ambitious and necessary for the transformation of the European space sector. They include 30% improvement of spacecraft development time by 2023, one order of magnitude better cost efficiency with every generation, 30% faster development adoption of innovative technology, inverting European contributions to space debris by 2030.The TDE plays a fundamental role towards achieving these targets. The TDE Work Plan 2021-2022 addresses the mission needs for Earth Observation, Exploration, Space Transportation, Telecommunication, Navigation and Space Safety and Security, the work plan for SCI is presented in a separate document. Animportant part is dedicated to Generic Technologies common to several application domains. All technology domains are covered. It comprises 193 activities, amounting around 80ME. The activities are organised by application domain and per competences domains. Invitation to Tenders will be continuously issued on EMITS.
