In a previous activity, the feasibility to have high strength polymers (i.e. PEEK) being used for a zero g and ISS compatible 3D printer using fused filament fabrication technology has been demonstrated by manufacturing a breadboard. In this activity, the design of an ISS compatible 3D printer able to print part and the evaluation of the manufactured part for an ISS utilization are to be fully demonstrated.The activity is split in two main tasks related to the manufacturing of a prototype and to the evaluatoin of the parts print with this same prototype.The activity encompasses the following tasks:- To manufacture a 3D printer fully compatible withall ISS requirements and able to print all thermoplastics including high strength and functional thermoplastics (i.e. PEEK, PEI) including double extrusion (nozzle) possibility and a capability to print large parts in at least on direction.- To take into accountasuitable design for integration in ISS (e.g. in COLUMBUS EDR MkII Rack)- To identify relevant ISS part that could be 3D printed focusing on maintenance purpose and Life support- To use the 3D printer to print several functional parts (for ISS maintenance)- To assess the printed part functionality and test them to qualification level- To potentially modify the printer design/configuration to insure the printing of real functional parts- To assess the technology and its possibility for future exploration habitat designand maintenanceProcurement Policy: C(2) = A relevant participation (in terms of quality and quantity) of non-primes (incl.
