H2020-ESA-052 ELCANO Proof of Concept. The aim of this activity is to contribute to the development of exploratory system concepts and architectures complementary to the GNSS MEO based system for the provision of augmentation, complementary and alternative space-based PNT and other services with satellites from Low Earth Orbit, taking into account Mission/User inputs from past studies and technological/functional improvements from other GNSS Systems. ELCANO stands for European Leo Component for Assured Navigation and is oriented towards augmentation/complementary to existing European GNSS – harsh environments – and alternate/backup PNT for improved resilience and robustness. The study focuses on ELCANO proof-of-concept and the maturation and verification of enabling technologies.
