FORUM is one of the two candidate concepts for the 9th Earth Explorer (EE-9) mission. It is based on a Fourier Transform Spectrometer to fill a long-standing observation gap of spectral observations from space in the Far InfraRed (FIR) region from 15 to 100 m, with the aim to improve our understanding of climate relevant processes that are active in the FIR such as the water vapour greenhouse effect, the cirrus cloud greenhouse effect, and the surface emission in high latitude and high altitude regions, and to provide complementary information on the upper tropospheric/lower stratospheric (UTLS) water vapour and temperature profile retrievals compared to the mid infrared. The procurement in subject includes the End to End Performance Simulator. Subject to reception of good quality proposals, it is intended to place a single contract. The procurement will be open to all economic operators belonging to the ESA Member and Associated States and Canada, participating in EOEP 4 Programme; to date: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom and Canada.”
