Procurement for CSC4 Expansion Missions Expert Support Services (CEMESS) The current suite of Sentinel missions are at the heart ofthe Copernicus programme, led by the European Commission. Data from the Copernicus Sentinels, which are developed by ESA, feed intothe Copernicus Services, which help address challenges such as urbanisation, food security, rising sea levels, diminishing polar ice, natural disasters and, of course, climate change. Looking to the future, six high-priority candidate missions are being studied to address EU policy and gaps in Copernicus user needs, and to expand the current capabilities of the Copernicus space component .Thesix high priority candidates missions are known as Expansion Missions (previously called High Priority Candidates Missions – HPCM).The expansion missions development are proposed as a new segment of existing programme, implemented in three phases with only first phase (2020-2029) presented at Space19+. The Phase 1 supports the Phase B2/C/D/E1 of the six High Priority Candidate Missions including Ground Segment Development Collaborative G/S activities. It is Co-funded by EC contribution for recurrent models, launch and operations. A Programmatic review will be performed at the end of phase B2 (at the end 2021). The six Expansion Missions are: CHIME – Copernicus Hyperspectral Imaging Mission CIMR – Copernicus Imaging Microwave RadiometersCO2M – Copernicus Anthropogenic Carbon Dioxide Mission (not subject of this procurement) CRISTAL – Copernicus Polar Ice and Snow Topography Altimeter LSTM -Land Surface Temperature Monitoring ROSE-L – L-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar This procurement – CSC4 Expansion Missions Expert Support Services (CEMESS) – intends to provide expert support for the preparation and definition of the expansion missions algorithm, calibration and validation, Fiducial Reference Measurements (FRM) required by the European Space Agency (ESA) for a four-year period starting 1 October 2021.
