The objective of this activity will be to develop an end-to-end simulator of an optical monitoring system of laser sheets for particle detection in relevant microparticle environments (LEO, GEO, interplanetary particle population). The simulator will be used to perform a trade-off between multiple detector concepts, deriving a conceptual design optimised for the reconstruction of particle properties, in particular but not limited to size and velocity vector, and the reduction of systematic uncertainties by coincidence measurements.
