The objective of this activity is to assess, through relevant studies and HW/SW platforms, the role of GNSS in general and Galileo in particular in the next generation 5G wireless networks, in the areas of positioning and network synchronisation, including relevant contributions to standardisation bodies (3gpp and ITU).The activity includes tasks in support of:Identification and assessmentof achievable performances for hybrid positioning techniques, these including external 5G technologies (GNSS plus sensors) and 5G internal technologies. Assessment of apportionment between different techniques.Development of advanced hybrid navigation platform (hardware and software simulation) aiming at being representative of future 5G terminals and other terrestrial networks integration with GNSS for demonstration of achieved performance targets.Support of participation and contributions to 5G standardisation activities.
