The 2nd generation of Galileo (G2G) is envisaged to introduce increased Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) and Inclined Geo-Synchronous Orbit (IGSO). Therefore it is foreseen that the power level at the payload output section will exceed FOC qualification levels. Current European solutions have marginal performance with respect to FOC power levels and further advancement is needed to cope with G2G levels. The development of enhanced high power output multiplexer to support increased power requirements for G2G while maintaining RF performances is a key payload technology. Payload RF needs impose sharp near-band rejection, low loss, flat in-bandgroup delay, spurious-free out-of-band rejection and minimum PIM. The activity will cover the design, development and test of an L-Band high power output multiplexer Engineering Model with enhanced power handling/multipactor performance, sharp rejection and flat in-band group delay.
