The „Earth Observation for SDG Targets and Indicators, Lot-1” is the first activity initiated under the „EO for Sustainable Development Goals” line of activities of the FutureEO-1 programme.It consists of a series of RD projects that foster the uptake of EO solutions into national SDG monitoring frameworks, for countries to better measure and monitor progress towards the SDG Targets, report on the SDG Global Indicator Framework, and eventually put in place informed and evidence-based development policies.The activity „Earth Observation for SDG Targets and Indicators, Lot-1” consists of 5 parallel and independent projects:SDG 11.1.1 Pathfinder- EO for Informal Settlement Mapping (1 project) to develop and showcase advanced EO solutions to automatically identify, delineate and characterise the spatial extent of slums.SDG 15.2.1 Pathfinder – EO for Sustainable Forest Management (1 project) to develop and showcase innovative EO approaches for the production of indicators on the sustainable management of natural, semi-natural and planted forests. SDG 15.3.1 Pathfinder – Sentinels for Land Degradation Neutrality (SEN4LDN) (1 project) to develop and showcase advanced EO solutions to monitor land degradation at high spatial resolution.SDG Engines – EO solutions for national SDG monitoring (2 projects) to integrate innovative EO data processing and data analytics engines within national systems and processes on SDGs and showcase the adequacy of EO solutions for SDG monitoring.
