Description: The project aims to increase the lifetime of a Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in practical applications combining classical procedures used in WSN with elements of Information Theory.

Project objectives:

  • Develop Distributed Compression Algorithms (DCA), data aggregation algorithms and synchronization algorithms in order to minimize the energy consumption of a wireless sensor node;
  • Develop experimental wireless sensor networks to monitor the environmental and medical parameters ;
  • Test and validate the algorithms on the developed wireless sensor networks.

Activities:

  • WP1 – Definition of experimental model requirements, architecture and preliminary concept
  • WP2 – Experimental hardware implementation
  • WP3 – Nodes algoritms elaboration
  • WP4 – Experimental base station and acquisition software implementation
  • WP5 – Validation and Evaluation
