This activity addresses disruptive aspects of the industry “GNSS in rail” roadmap, targeting longer-term capabilities, where required performances are not met by current state of the art. This includes track discrimination for Start of Mission, and extending use of virtual balises by improving the accuracy of virtual balise detection. While GNSS positioning techniques such as Precise Point Positioning (PPP) and Real-Time-Kinematic (RTK) can provide decimetre accuracy, they currently lack algorithms providing integrity.This activity focuses on technologies and integrity concepts suitable for meeting stringent safety and performance targets, operating in the challenging railway environment (i.e. With interference, obscuration, multipath and Non-Line-Of-Sight conditions). In addition, GNSS receiver technologies need to be resilient against adversarial conditions (e.g. Intentional jamming and spoofing).This activity is an important building block that can contribute towards extending the use of GNSS to a larger range of operations and scenarios, improving the long-term value proposition for the use of GNSS in railway signalling applications.The activity shall address innovative integrity concepts with:- Robust Fault-Detection-and-Exclusion for local feared events meeting stringent missed-detection and false-alarm requirements;- Robust bounding of residual pseudo-range errors, meeting stringent integrity requirements; and- Resilience against spoofing and jamming.Technology enabler shall consider utilization of:- Multiple frequencies (at least L1/E1 and L5/E5) and constellations (at least Galileo and GPS);- Future SBAS (EGNOS V3);- Sensors, Inertial Measurement Units, etc.;- Complementary Positioning-Navigation-Timing.Techniques considered must be suitable for use in safety-related applications.This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Review of state of the art of technology / techniques and assessment of suitability for safety-related railway applications, identifying gaps for building a certifiable integrity concept;- Selection of candidate GNSS technologies / techniques to develop and test;- Development of technology enabler and associated testing capabilities; and- Use of simulation testbed / data from test campaigns to assess performance
