ESA intends to demolish 2 buildings at ESOC, located in Darmstadt, Germany. ESOC is the European Satellite Operations Centre and is responsible for the system operation and control of several ESA satellites. The area of the site is 4.2 hectares and it contains a total of 13 buildings (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K, M, N, P and R) consisting of offices, control buildings and supply buildings in a relatively confined area, including canteen, garage and gatehouse. The overall objective of this project is the demotion of buildings A and B by a General Contractor. Building A is a 5 storys building (including basement) of about 11,000 m³, built in 2 phases and possesses a personal elevator. It is Architecturally connected with building B, by the means of corridors. Ground floor and basement of building A are connected to Building C. The Building has a partial basement. The basement, connected to ESOC personal tunnel system is a junction of data and power cabling for buildings C, D and E, as well as warm and cold water piping supplying for building C .This basement will remain and needs to be fully protected during the demolition works. Building A is an office building, hosting 134 offices in total and 3 small wiring centres, as well as 2 PDUs on each floor. The building main PDUs, warm water and cold water installations are located in the basement. Building A contains asbestos. The locations of all harmful substances containing materials such as Asbestos, AMF, PCB, wood preservatives and PAH are registered in the Concept demolition harmful substances. Building B is a 6 storeys (incl. basement) building of about 11,800 m³with a connection construction with Building A over all floors. It isequipped with 2 personal elevators. Its basement is connected to ESOC personal tunnel system and is a junction of data and power cabling for buildings D and E. Building B is an office building, hosting 100 offices in total and 2 wiring centres, as well as 1 PDU on each floor. The building main PDUs, warm water and cold water installations are located in the basement. Building B contains harmful substances which are registered in the Concept demolition harmful substances. The works to be performed are amongst others: Remove 4 containers (Portakabins) located behind Building A and B incl. 2 metal stairs. Demolish and remove harmful substances containing materials from ESOC buildings A and BDemolish and remove non-containing harmful substances materials of ESOC Buildings A and B. Demolish the structure of building A (except Basement). Demolish the structure of building BModify the building structures of theremaining Basement of A concerning connections and removed structures and close the connection (tunnel) to Building B, Install a door to the facade of C building. Secure remaining structures, surrounding installations and buildings. Close the foundation ditchesRe-naturate the construction ground after demolition
