The proposed work activities deals with the possibility of application of cellular agriculture as a novel technique to produce renewable food sources, in particular “cultured meat”, for future long-term human space missions. Conventional production of animal-derived food, such as meat, would be unthinkable in space. A potential alternative method could be to produce meat from cell cultures. The proposed activities focus on the feasibility study of a cultured meat production system for applications in space.
