This procurement covers the development of software tools (called here the CCI Toolbox) to simplify handling, inspection and analysis of CCI data products. The toolbox will be a resource that will be made freely available to all users of CCI data. The CCI Toolbox will incorporate generic functions applicable to all ECV data products in order to simplify analysis of single and multiple ECVs in parallel. These tools will be targeted at as wide a user community as possible. Consultation with all users of CCI data will be important to establish the detailed requirements for the toolbox. The CCI toolbox will provide the required functionality for CCI data analysis and also allow users to introduce their own functionality in the form of plugins. The CCI Data Access Portal, the development of which forms part of a separate procurement, will serve as an important contributory source of data to the toolbox. The CCI Toolbox will incorporate specialised functions for use with CCI data products. The specifics of these functions will be defined through discussion and communication with users to ensure that the requirements are clearly understood, respected and the end productan appropriate deliverable for the communities it sets out to serve. Software tools for inclusion within the toolbox shall facilitate the conversion of data, provide statistical processing, and the means to combine, interrogate and exploit information across the ECVs. The CCI Toolbox will also include functions needed by non-expert users. Implementation shall follow an open software approachso that users can themselves add to the functions available. Full advantage shall be taken of existing toolboxes used within the EOand climate research community.
