Evidence has been made in the course of BELISSIMA 1 that the scope of BELISSIMA activities is extremely ambitious (many elements/mixture to be studied, many processes pathways to be identified and understood, ..) and therefore should be envisaged with a long-termvision and strategy. Similarities of targeted issues with acute terrestrial problematic are identified and preliminary discussions with European research institutes confirmed a clear interest on their side, as BELISSIMA could create an enabling environment for scientific advances and innovation, breaking down traditional scientific barriers, stimulating interdisciplinary team science. The first objective of the present activity is to investigate further about the institutions and organizations, across ESA Member States, which share an interest in the BELISSIMA activities. This interest should be qualified in depth (scope, limits, constraints, conditions) and further translated into collaboration agreements. Creation of a research consortium is sought. The investigations performed should pave the definition of a BELISSIMA work plan with short, mid, and long-term views. Funding needs shall be sized. Resources shall be identified and financial agreements established. Co-funding for a future BELISSIMA phase B shall be secured and longer-term potential funding routes assessed.
