The development of EGNSS Demonstration Centres where downstream stakeholders will be able to integrate their solutions with other complementary technologies, to test and validate them against a realistic operational context, explore opportunities for partnership with other value chain stakeholders, stimulate interest among the financing community and support a market-driven evolution of the EGNSS infrastructure is the main goal of this activity. Allowing the interaction of different actors in the value chain will eventually make it possible to move away from incremental lab-based innovation to game-changing collaborative innovation. In particular, the development of EGNSS Demonstration Centres should be capable of achieving most of the following goals: -Supporting the validation of EGNSS-based applications and relevant requirements, facilitating SME engagement in cooperation with suitable market stakeholders to enhance adoption of the EGNSS-based solution and overall market penetration; -Involving end users and service providers in theearly phases of EGNSS infrastructure evolution to ensure that EGNSS infrastructure is tuned to future operational requirements; -Supporting the demonstration of EGNSS satellite technologies for potential users to promote products/applications and increase awareness of user communities with regard to satellite-enabled applications; -Facilitating partnerships for improved competitive positioning and access to major global markets; -Facilitating a “service-driven approach” by linking with key relevant market owners: terrestrial telecom operators, map providers, infrastructure operators, etc.; -Promoting industrial cooperation with companies from newly-acceding countries, and supporting assistance from experienced European suppliers in the development of local market infrastructures; -Favouring the emergence of local markets with strong service providers and dedicated market infrastructures for applications with strong local needs (i.e. telematics, rail, asset management, fleet management, public safety, etc.); -Identifying sectors with strong institutional requirements for EGNSS-based applications (civil, defence & security), supporting national and regional procurement agencies in federating requirements, and assessing how to optimise the emergence of a strong European supply base.
