FIRST PHASE FOR 4S SYSTEM SERVICES TEST BED (ARTES 4.0 4S SPL 3A.149 / 4S.010) RE-ISSUE
8, March 2022

ESA Open Invitation to Tender: 1-10949
Open Date: 07/03/2022 14:27 CEST
Closing Date: 16/05/2022 13:00 CEST

Objective: The objective of the activity is to define, specify and develop the first core elements of an incremental Test Bed to be used in support of complex telecommunication systems and services design verification and validation. Targeted Improvements:Increase the definition of key performance parameter analysis and verification from early phases Increase the user performances validation from the beginning of the system definition phases Increase the capability of simulate, emulate and validate the system key performances and user KPI. Description: At the beginning of a complex telecommunication system design and development, which imply the deployment of various services, it is very difficult to evaluate systems and services performances KPI and eventually to verify their value for the final users vis a vis the structure of the service provision and the system architecture. The first Phase of the Testbed shall: – Starting from the analysis of the planned services, the definition, specification and development of the firstcore of the system test bed shall be implemented.- Starting for each service element a simulator core shall be specified and developed and the first emulationcore as well as the definition of the overall architecture and the modularity needed by the test bed shall bedefined. The final goal of this first phase is to achieve a first level of test bed maturity allowing the final user of the selected services user to measure/ validate new services performances in an emulated environment. The test bed shall simulate/emulate the core element of the system, the various segment composing the system architecture and their interfaces with the core as well as a user interface specifications and a user interface User Machine Interface to allow fine user services tests. In addition, a development of a modularity infrastructure so that the incremental approach can be guaranteed as well as the possibility to swap emulation nodes with real hardware, software or signal interfaces nodes. The deliverables of this activity will include a system Engineering Model simulator and a system Engineering Model Emulator consisting of a combined software and hardware test bed demonstrator featuring the above mentioned critical system functions and services simulation/emulation.
