QKD High rate detector technologies development results are an important element to improve the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) key rate of the SAGA payloads, which is currently limited by the maximum key rate of available single photon detector technology, The QKD high rate detector pre-development activity has the following objectives : – Study and develop a single photon detector with >2 GHz count rate at high quantum efficiency and associated QKD detection system in order to significantly increase the QKD key rate on European technology- Manufacturing and performance testing of a laboratory demonstrator with a design also suitable for the space use in the SAGA project in a follow up activity.
