The Distributed CCSDS File Delivery Protocol (DCFDP) Software will be used for the on-ground distributed CFDP system to allow the downlink of Earth observation files over less-reliable Ka-Band links by means of the CFDP protocol for the next generation of the High Priority Copernicus Missions (HPCM) with downlink data rates of up to 10 Gbps.While from a spacecraft perspective the CCSDS File Delivery Protocol (CFDP) is implemented as defined in the CFDP standard, the CFDP implementation on ground has to be distributed to address the fact that space link data rates are much higher than available terrestrial communication data rates from the ground station, support for downlink of large Earth observation files over several ground station passes is required, and closure of the CFDP Class 2 protocol loop in real time to retransmit data lost on the space link is needed.
