The objective of this ITT is to develop, test and demonstrate the contribution of satellite EO and new ICT in the sector of Development Aid by means of a dedicated EO processing environment referred to as EO4SD Lab, a community initiative for development aid. This has the aim to contribute to building a long-term sustainable use of EO-derived information services to support development aid activities i.e. activities addressing both Official Development Assistance (ODA) and international development activities with International Financial Institutions (IFIs). This is in pursuance to the activities of ESA in the development aid area with projects being implemented through IFIs with an activity referred to as EO for Sustainable Development (EO4SD) and, secondly, looking at newly initiated dialogue with several European national aid agencies also interested in the use of EO-based information within their activities. The activity shall take advantage of advances in ICT, in particular concerning EO data access, hosted processing of EO missionsdata to support the generation of relevant geo-information, and e-collaboration about persistent access and sharing of data, information and knowledge about relevant EO applications alongside with relevant non data including data from crowd sourcing. It is considering both open and free data (e.g. with EUs Copernicus programme) and national EO missions data (e.g. VHR Optical SAR) with the objective to make the case for increasing the use of satellite EO within the Development Aid sector.
