In the frame of this project it is planned to develop a ground based tracking radar by retrofitting the two existing Cheia (Romania) 32m parabolic antennas (built in 1977 and 1979 respectively), which were used in the past for telecommunication applications and are presently no longer in use. The scope of this radar system shall be to track Low Earth Objects (LEO). In phase I, the status of the existing antennas was analysed and the feasibility to retrofit the antennas was confirmed. The foreseen activity (Phase II), can reuse the information ideas gathered during Phase I, but does not rely on them.
