The Sentinel-5 Precursor (S5P) Mission Performance Centre (MPC) is the core ESA element responsible for the calibration, validation, operational quality control and algorithm maintenance for the S5P atmospheric composition mission. The activity shall be provided as a service to ESA. The MPC is a distributed facility, composed of a coordinating centre and expert teams, providing services and expertise for calibration, validation, off-line quality control and algorithms corrective and perfective maintenance activities. All MPC functionalities shall be implemented in such a way to satisfy the requirements of an operational service and to minimise anomalyrecovery periods. The MPC shall be based, wherever possible, on existing expertise, facilities, tools, algorithms, methods, etc. The initial contract will cover the establishment and deployment of the teams as well as ramp-up phase to full operationally during the first months of the S5P Phase E2.
